Denise’s program has been amazing for my son for self regulation and emotional wellbeing. Both my son and I now have the beginning tools and terminology to work through those tough emotional/ self regulation times. I will definitely be continuing with and recommending this program as I have finally found something that works for my son and I’m sure can work for many children! Thank you Denise

What is Mindfulness & How Can It Help?

Mindfulness is a scientifically-based approach to developing focused attention and emotional regulation. Mindfulness means paying attention in the present moment to our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, or surrounding environment. It can be defined simply as noticing what’s happening right now. It also includes the cultivation of positive states of mind such as empathy and kindness.

Studies find that learning mindfulness benefits children in terms of improved attention, emotion regulation, behaviour in school, empathy and understanding of others, social skills, anxiety, and stress.

Some examples of how mindfulness is used in class are noticing and naming our feelings, using mindful breathing to calm anxiety and improve focus, pausing when feeling frustrated or impatient.

Denise was amazing! My daughter looked forward to going to class every week and loved working on the techniques learned each week. After the session my daughter was more inclined to discuss how she was feeling and what she needed from us to help.

The program you have created is so wonderful. Our daughter uses the methods she has learned in your class when she needs them. Always, she is happy coming back from your class and excited to tell us what she had learned that day. She is getting more confident in herself. We are very happy to see her progress into a more calm and confident young lady. As well as to see that we are not the only ones that needed help. We are not alone.
